ANNOUNCING: Summer 2026 - Terp Farm Internship Positions

TERP FARM, the University of Maryland’s own vegetable farm, is offering paid full-time and part-time internship opportunities to current UMD students for the upcoming 2026 growing season!

This internship is valuable for students studying agriculture, environmental science, sustainability, food systems, or those wishing to simply build a connection to nature by working outdoors and gain greater appreciation for the environment, biodiversity, and the effort required to produce food. As part of the farm crew, students will receive an entry-level farming experience and develop practical skills in vegetable crop production, soil management, agricultural mechanics, and leadership.

This position runs from May 20, 2026 - August 28, 2026, with the potential of extending employment term through the Fall semester.

Apply by March 1, 2026 for best consideration.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until all available positions are filled.

To Apply: Applications may be submitted using this Google Form link: https://go.umd.edu/terpfarmsummerjob

At the end of the form, applicants will be asked to upload a resume and a cover letter that responds to the following questions:

● Tell us why you want to be a part of the Terp Farm Team.

● Describe your qualifications for the position.

● Explain what outcomes you hope to gain from this experience.

Eligibility: Successful candidates should consider themselves to be hard-working, self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to demonstrate good communication skills. It is very important to be willing to receive direction, exemplify a strong work ethic, and possess an attitude of positivity in order to work on a farm.

While having previous farming experience or outdoor jobs is generally preferred, it is not required. However it is essential that candidates are committed to vegetable farming and all that it requires, including being able to lift 50 lbs regularly, and work outside in all weather conditions from rainy days to high summer heat.

Preference will be given to those candidates that are seeking a position for internship credit, those who are studying agriculture or related fields, and those that have prior work experience in farming or similar trades. A valid driver’s license is required, as well as your own means for commuting to and from the farm.

University programs, activities, and facilities are available to all without regard to race, color, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital status, age, national origin, political affiliation, physical or mental disability, religion, protected veteran status, genetic information, personal appearance, or any other legally protected class
