Position Overview:
Arterra Landscapes is looking for an intern to support our landscape designers and field production.
Students and recent graduates will gain experience working with clients, developing landscape plans, sourcing project materials, and contributing to project installation on residential properties.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated candidate to expand their knowledge and skills in the landscape design/build and environmental industry. The intern will work closely with other team members, partners such as the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and DC DOEE, plant/shrub/tree growers and our wonderful clients.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Accompany landscape designers to consultations and take field notes, measurements and site photos
- Organize site notes and photos in the company’s shared database
- Assist in creating digitally rendered landscape plans in Adobe Illustrator including rain gardens, bayscaping, outdoor carpentry, hardscaping, and stormwater systems.
- Create social media content including posts, reels, and newsletters.
- Create design files and proposals to present to clients.
- Learn about stormwater best management practices, native plant identification, and landscape design.
- Assist in sourcing high quality materials including trees, shrubs, perennial plants and stone from multiple vendors across Maryland and DC.
- General administrative tasks.

Hours: 12-16 in-person hours/week
