Newburgh Urban Farm and Food Initiative (NUFFI) is a not for profit organization located in the City of Newburgh NY with a mission to empower residents working together to build a just and resilient food system that improves the environment and the health of the community.
Title: Seasonal Farm Hand Downing Park Urban Farm (DPUF)
The Seasonal Flower Farm Assistant will assist flower production operations at DPUF including harvesting flowers, making bouquets, and staffing our Saturday market.
This seasonal position involves 20-30 hours per week and lasts approximately 12 weeks from June 10 through August 29, 2026, weather permitting. Includes Saturday shifts.
Reports to Farm Manager
Responsibilities include:
● Harvesting, treating, and storing flowers
● Making bouquets for our flower CSA and Saturday market(s)
● Independent market and setup and cleanup on Saturday mornings
● Maintain, organize, and clean flower processing and storage areas
● Assisting the Farm Manager in all other farm duties, as needed.
● Working with volunteers as needed.
Qualifications:
● Experience handling flowers and/or arranging bouquets strongly preferred.
● Experience with, or a strong desire to learn* flower cultivation skills.
● Driver’s license with clean record required.
● Capable of demanding and repetitive physical labor, including lifting 50+ pounds safely and repeatedly and performing well in all weather conditions
● Able to safely operate flower harvesting tools and equipment
● Strong communication skills
● Excellent attention to detail
● Good organization skills
● Good customer service skills
● Ability to work independently or as part of a team
● Must be prompt, responsible, and focused
● Bi-lingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
Salary and Benefits
● This is a seasonal/temporary position paid at an hourly rate of $15/hr. May include a fuel stipend for individuals living outside of Newburgh, NY.
