Organic Farming Research Foundation - Organic Policy Intern - Summer 2026

Organic Policy Intern (Summer 2026)

Priority Applications due: May 15, 2026

Organizational Background

The mission of the Organic Farming Research Foundation (OFRF) is to foster the improvement and widespread adoption of organic farming systems. OFRF envisions a future where organic farming is the leading form of agriculture. Our goal is to broaden access to and involvement in our programs; working toward greater equity in our food and agriculture systems overall. Since its founding in 1990, OFRF has sponsored organic farming research, education, and outreach to support organic and transitioning farmers across North America. This work is complemented by efforts to share our findings with policy makers, agricultural institutions, and federal agencies to support broader change and advance the organic sector.

Position Overview

The Organic Farming Research Foundation is seeking a temporary remote intern to work an average of 10-15 hours per week for 10 weeks for Summer 2026.

This internship will be focused on producing external-facing materials highlighting the importance of organic programs and research projects.

With guidance from your supervisor, read and summarize selected organic research projects funded through the Agriculture Research Service (ARS) and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), noting how findings may be relevant to regional producers.

Update a list of state-level organic associations and contact information.

Draft communications about state-level programs and policies affecting organic agriculture.

Write one or more blog posts related to organic agriculture.

Other related tasks as assigned by your supervisor.

This internship may be tailored to suit the candidate’s background and interests.

This is a remote, independent role that reports to OFRF’s Policy Manager. You will be expected to meet with your supervisor at least once a week, and we expect candidates who come prepared, communicate proactively when questions or roadblocks come up, and take ownership of their projects from start to finish. The right person for this role is genuinely curious about this work and motivated by doing it well.

Compensation

Starting pay range is $18-$21 per hour. Interns are not eligible for benefits.
